The Campaign Against Hunger will mark its 25th year of support to those struggling with food insecurity across New York City at the 12th Annual Planter Awards Gala on May 3, 2023.
The event sponsored by American Beverage will feature and celebrate honorees committed to building community resilience – Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, NYS Senator Zellnor Myrie, Kate MacKenzie, Executive Director of The Mayor’s Office of Food Policy, Noreen Springstead, President and CEO of Partnership for a Healthier America and Karen Washington, Co-Owner of Rise & Root Farm and Co-Founder, Black Urban Growers.
With catering services provided by Giando on the Water of Brooklyn, the event is also sponsored by Victor C. And Clara C. Battin Foundation, Monadnock Construction, Inc., Emblem Health, National Grid, and streaming partner Simon Pro Photo. A video will be presented by Total Social MG LLG as part of the ceremony.
The gala event is a fundraiser that allows TCAH to deliver an array of complementary services that provide food with dignity in conjunction with access to critical social services, youth workforce programs, community education programs, and urban farming.
Specific to Rockaway, TCAH provides cyber and in-person pantry services based from the Arverne View Development, management for Beach Dunes Eats & Arts Cafe, Rockaway’s only community cafe located at 45-19 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, as well as an urban farm located along 45th Street and Beach Channel Drive, with the intention to deepen their commitment for future services.
