When Jamaica Calls — We Answer. Food • Hygiene • Hope.
Hurricane Melissa devastated the island nation of Jamaica with unprecedented force: sustained winds over 160 mph, torrential rains, flash floods and storm surges.
The scale of impact is staggering: coastal communities faced 9-13 foot storm surges, inland regions faced landslides, and tens of thousands lost shelter, power, potable water and food access.
For many families who were already food & hygiene insecure, this disaster has compounded the crisis. They urgently need our help.
The Campaign Against Hunger, in collaboration with the Jamaican Consulate in New York City and the New York State Joint Brooklyn and Queens Assembly and Senate Delegations, is mobilizing shipments of non-perishable food, hygiene kits, and emergency supplies to support families across Jamaica.
Even a $50 donation can provide a family of five with a week’s worth of food staples (rice, beans, canned vegetables, cooking oil) and a hygiene kit to remain safe and healthy during post-storm outages.
With the storm’s scale, every hour matters: the longer people go without food, water, hygiene access, the higher the risk of illness, malnutrition, infectious disease, and mental-health trauma.
Your support amplifies the capacity of local & trusted networks already embedded in the community — so aid gets in faster, to those who need it most.
This moment calls for solidarity. Our Jamaican brothers and sisters are bracing for a reckoning.
Your contribution sends more than supplies—it sends hope.
As soon as funds are processed, we begin procurement & shipping. We’re prioritizing speed given the imminent disaster.

We’ll send periodic email updates and publish a full “Impact Report” via our website within 45-60 days.
Our logistics team is working with local partners and contingency plans include pre-positioning supplies near accessible hubs and using community networks to reach remote areas once clearance is safe.
Given the urgency and shipping logistics, cash donations are more efficient. If you have large supplies you wish to contribute, please contact us at relief@tcah.org to discuss suitability and shipping cost.
