Our Mission
Our mission is to empower our neighbors to lead healthier, more productive, and self-sufficient lives by increasing access to safe, nutritious food and related resources.
Our Story
TCAH’s beginnings were undeniably modest—Dr. Melony Samuels, TCAH’s CEO and Founder responded to the needs of one single mother struggling to feed her four children. She would later serve 50 families in a church basement in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Fast forward to today, TCAH is one of NYC’s food security champions, serving over 2 million New Yorkers a whopping 35 million nutritious meals annually and counting.
Responding to Crisis
With the COVID-19 pandemic hitting New York City hard, TCAH scales up like never before. Over 35 million meals are distributed to more than 2 million New Yorkers in need, essential TCAH services and enrichment programs like the Fresh Vibes Market and Youth Empowerment expand to meet the needs of Brooklyn and beyond.
A Leader in Food Justice
Today, TCAH is a citywide champion for food security, grounded in dignity and holistic care. Our programs work together to nourish bodies and empower futures because hunger is only one piece of the puzzle, supporting the full scope of what a person needs to thrive, from work opportunities to healthy food, is how you build self-sufficient individuals and communities.
