The Campaign Against Hunger (TCAH) is proud to introduce The Career Advancement Program (TCAP), a comprehensive workforce development initiative designed to empower marginalized adults in food-insecure communities. TCAP’s core mission is to break cycles of poverty and food insecurity by providing essential tools, industry credentials, and support for stable, living-wage employment.

Who TCAP Serves

TCAP specifically targets adults aged 25–55 who are unemployed or underemployed , may lack a high school diploma or GED , are experiencing housing or food insecurity , or are disconnected from the workforce due to various barriers. The program focuses on residents in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, East New York (Brooklyn), and Far Rockaway (Queens).

Our Holistic Approach

TCAP is structured as a six-month pathway to employment and stability, incorporating intensive training, practical experience, and essential support services:

Foundational Skills and Education


Workforce Readiness:
Includes workshops on resume development, interview coaching, digital literacy, workplace technology, and soft skills training (e.g., communication and professionalism).

GED & Basic Education:
Offers on-site or partner-facilitated GED prep courses, tutoring, and assistance with accessing testing centers.

Industry-Specific Career Tracks

Participants will be engaged over a 3 month period following an assessment of needs. Following assessments Participants will identify immediate needs and be connected to resources related

Paid Internships:
Following training (Months 4-6), participant’s transition into a three-month period of paid internships or transitional employment with TCAH or partner organizations.

Supportive Services:
TCAP provides financial stipends during training, access to Metro Cards and childcare support, financial literacy workshops, mental health and housing referrals, and specialized legal clinics for justice-involved individuals.

Post-Program Support:
TCAP offers three months of wrap-around services to support job retention and long-term success.

By joining TCAP, participants receive the skills, credentials, and holistic support needed to navigate their career paths and achieve economic equity.
