Healthy Families and Healthy Communities

Bringing families together to foster intergenerational learning about healthy meal preparation and nutrition.

Healthy Families Healthy Communities (HFHC) is a two-hour family nutrition workshop. HFHC weekly classes focus on healthy meal preparation in order to provide families with an enriched knowledge of nutrition and healthful eating, as well as facilitate mutual learning and bonding. The intergenerational learning fostered by HFHC will ensure that parents and caregivers have the necessary information to support their child’s introduction to healthy living.

Our HFHC families come together to harvest vegetables at the TCAH farms, prepare a meal, set a table, and commune with others.  Each family receives utensils and a cook stove and receive Chef’s guidance and support.  They leave with a recipe and all of the ingredients so that they can replicate the entire experience at home. Our HFHC class is a great way for families get bond, all while picking up some amazing cooking skills!
